Comparative Study between Different Oil Production Enhancement Scenarios in an Iraqi Tight Oil Reservoir

This paper presents a comparative study between different oil production enhancement scenarios in the Saadi tight reservoir located Halfaya Iraqi field. The exhibits poor petrophysical characteristics, including medium pore size, low permeability (reaching zero some areas), and high porosity of up to 25%. Previous stimulation techniques such as acid fracturing matrix acidizing have yielded this reservoir. Therefore, feasibility hydraulic and/or horizontal well drilling was assessed increase rate. While can improve performance, they come with costs, often accounting for 100% total cost. To ensure economically viable flow rates achieve maximum ultimate recovery, technical economic conducted. results indicate that offers promising outcomes, 153,816 Mbbl over 30 years from 25 fractured wells, resulting final Net Present Value (NPV) 3,583.32 MM$. In contrast, planned two wells exhibit lower eventual NPV compared majority wells. However, 2000 m lateral section HF00Y-S00YH shows slightly higher NPV. Considering operational benefits profitability, should be seriously considered further development provides valuable insights into most effective approach enhancing reservoirs like Saadi, balancing viability scenarios. findings guide decision-making processes contribute maximizing recovery similar challenging reservoirs.
